Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen | 1 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine
Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen|Romantic Young Adult Books

Pride and prejudice is a romantic novel, published in 1813 .

It follows the love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy.

The Story consists of a family called the Bennet’s and Elizabeth Bennet is one of the 5 unmarried daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.

The novel starts with the introduction of Mr. Charles Bingley who further introduces  Mr. Darcy as they’re friends in the story.

Elizabeth met Darcy for the first time at a Ball but the meeting doesn’t go well.

(Maybe either of them didn’t know how to leave a good first impression. But you don’t take a chance.)

On the other hand Charles Bingley was quite comfortable with Jane bennet (eldest sister of Elizabeth).

Although the novel covers different topics, the major theme is about marrying or choosing a partner and shows us different human mindsets.

For Elizabeth pride is something important to her which gives a strong vibe to her character. Which make her a strong and confident character.

On the other hand we have Jane, who mostly gives attention to love in a marriage. All the sisters have a different take about it.

Now there is another character, Charlotte Lucas (Elizabeth’s friend) who thinks economic stability is more important than happiness in a marriage.

Now love stories can never be simple and without any ups and down.

So here we  have the characters George Wickham and Lady Catherine De Bourg, the main antagonists in the novel who tried their best to separate Elizabeth and Darcy.

The characters have been described beautifully by the author; it actually feels like you know them personally.

Elizabeth’s character is strong and bold and  has broken the  stereotypical  image of women of  that time.

Also the Novel takes you back to the culture and lifestyle of the 19th central. But due to the book written in a proper old British accent it is difficult to understand.

Also, the language we use now is very different to the one that was used back in the 19th century.

The book at some point can get a little extended or boring, but that’s different for different people.

So all in all it’s an enjoyable book.

Is it one of romantic young adult books? Yes. But you need to have a level of maturity to read Pride And Prejudice.

Number 1 on the list of Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine’s for a reason.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte|2 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Jane Eyre Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte | Romantic Young Adult Books

Jane Eyre was Published for the first time in 1847 under the pen name cover up belle.

So the story is about a young orphan girl, Jane Eyre whose aunt was forced to take Jane in.

All her childhood she was treated awfully by her aunt and her annoying cousins. Jane is quick tempered, a rebel and just likes to fight back therefore she’s sent away to a girls school called Lowood.

The conditions at the school were no better. It was strict, it was cold, they have lots of issues with the food.

In a nutshell, miserable.

But somehow she manages to make the best of the situation. She gets a good education and with a lot of hard work she becomes a teacher there.

At 18 she decides that she wants to be a governess and eventually ends up at Thornfield Hall, becoming a governess of Adele, a young French girl.

One day when she was going to post a letter in a neighbor’s town a person runs into her, none other than Mr, Rochester who she later came to know is the owner of the Thornfield Hall.

Now the first meeting was not a pleasant one (okay. People need to learn first impression hacks!) but later on as the novel progresses they both seem to get along quite well.

Also, out of other Romantic Young Adult Books in the list, then book is a bildungsroman which means, the novel deals with Jane’s formative years.

This book is a pride of our list of Best Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine.

Anne Karenina by Leo Tolstoy|3 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Anne Karenina Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine
Anne Karenina by Leo Tolstoy|Romantic Young Adult Books

The novel Anna Kareninal by Leo Tolstoy, was published in installments between 1875 and 1877 in a Russian magazine and is  considered one of the pinnacles of world literature.

There’s a lot going on in this novel, lot of characters, different sides of the story and LOTS OF RUSSIAN NAMES!

The story start out with the Oblonsky family. The husband, Stiva cheates on her wife Dolly with his daughter’s governess.

When Dolly finds out, she wasn’t too happy about this. Stiva’s married sister, Anna comes to the rescue and tries to reconcile their marriage.

On her way to her brother house she meets a military soldiers, Vronski. You can say it was a kind of love at first sight.

We also have the character of Levin, Stiva’s friend who is in love with Kitty, Dolly’s sister.

When Levin proposes Kitty, she instantly rejects him as she was in love with Vronski (yeah the same military guy). But Vronski rejects her and goes after her love, Anna.

Though titled, ‘Anna Karenina’, this book is not just the story of hers. It has a narrative of many other people intertwined to such an extent that at times you tend to forget who the protagonist is.

It is not just a story of Anna’s adultery and how her passion takes over her rationality, it is also a story of all characters connected to her in some way or the other.

It’s just amazing. A bit of a long read but it’s so worth it with the intricate relationships between characters and undertones for each character.

Lastly but most importantly the story is like an everyday incident that might happen around you but when it is narrated by Tolstoy, the same everyday story becomes an exquisite masterpiece!

Number 3 on our list of Best Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine edition!

*** Clap clap clap for the author! ***

4. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami|4 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Norwegian Woods Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine
Norwegian woods By Haruki Murakami|9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

The novel “Norwegian wood” is a Japanese romance genre novel published in the year 1987.

This novel follows the life of Toru Watanabe who is portrayed a 37 years old businessman in the beginning of the novel.

While travelling he listened to a version of the Beatles’ Norwegian Wood, and the music transports him back 18 years to his college days.

In his college times his best friend,  Kizuki committed suicide, leaving Toru and Naoko (Kizuki’s girlfriend )in deep grief.

Toru tries to offer emotional support to Naoko, but ends up falling desperately in love with her.

But kazuki’s death had a deep empact on Naoko and is emotionally unstable. As the story processes we see how Tori keeps falling for Naoko, who is still unstable.

But when he meets a certain fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman he starts getting attracted to her creating a huge twist in his life.

The novel is filled with the sense of nostalgia in almost every movement. Even if you haven’t lived the life like the protagonist, you’ll end up feeling nostalgic.

Maybe that’s what differentiates great writers like Murakami from others.

And here, Haruki Murakami is not just a name now. It is a brand.

Number 4 on the list of Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Love: Poems by Pablo Neruda|5 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Love:Poems Romantic Young Adult Books
Love:Poems by Pablo Neruda|9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

I will not take one more second to put it out to the world that:

I LOVE POETRY! There’s literally nothing you can do about it.

And when it comes to love, there’s no other way you can explain your heart better than poetry.

Also read about: Milk and Honey , the Sun and her flowers and Homebody by Rupi Kaur.

So when you hear about a romantic young adult book, poetry hardly crosses the mind and this is the reason it’s on number 5 in our list of Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine!

Love:Poems by Pablo Neruda- A perfectly lovely collection of beautiful, romantic and sensual poems assembled in one adorable book published in 1952!

The poems in this collection by Nobel winning Neruda are full, muscular with heart, bursting red in passionate blood, round and loud and straightforward in their declarations and this book collects Neruda’s most passionate verses.

Roomies by Christina Lauren |6 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Roomies by Christina Lauren| 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

Roomies- people who are also roommates.

Roomies by Christina Lauren- story of this Romantic Young Adult book follows a girl named Holland who is always finding excuses to go to this particular subway station.

“Why?” You ask me?

Just to see a certain guitarist she has a crush on.

*I’m not going to lie but she sounds like me. Or literally every other girl on this planet Earth!* Hahaha.

She has kind of made a fantasy about him in her mind but never actually found the courage to go and actually talk to him.

Okay now this is me. period.

One day she gets up having an (fortunate) accident leading her in a bad situation with a drunk man and guess what? Her crush, the guitarist, Calvin McLouglin ends up saving her life.

To repay him for his help Holland gets Calvin an audition with her uncle, Broadway’s hottest musical director.

But no young adult book is complete without some twists.

Talking of twists, later she finds out that Calvin was there on an expired student visa and is from Ireland.

And is living in state. ILLEGALLY.

Well, but no young adult book is complete without happy ending either.

So, at the end, they end up getting married so he can stay in US and have the Green Card and continue the Broadway show.

*imagine your dream of marrying your crush coming true. I can’t even imagine it.* Haaah..!

Well relatable yet not so relatable.

Number 6 on Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine.

You know, as child we thought of some things we thought will never happen to us or some things we think we’ll never do? That’s when things become relatable yet not relatable.

This is Not a Valentine by Carter Higgins | 7 of 9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

This is not a Velentine by Carter Higgins|9 Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine

This is not a valentine by Carter Higgins is an illustrated book in which illustrations are done by Lucy Ruth Cummins.

The book is about little and tiny moments we forget to enjoy. But, don’t those tiny moments make our whole life?

Does that mean we don’t enjoy our own life? (Okay let’s stop overthinking!)

The book is about two elementary school kids who are fond of each other. Both of them give each other very sweet gifts throughout the day.

Why this is not a valentine? Because valentine’s are all red and pink, sugary, and expensive.

When it’s love, it’s expressed better by heart. And little efforts truly go a long (loooooooong) way! What do you think?

For this specific discussion, we have on number 7 in our list of Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine “this is not a valentine by Carter Higgins”.

“This Is Not A Valentine” on Romantic Young Adult Books on Valentine edition?

Ironic. Right?
