A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE GAME OF TRONES; How often it is that a series of books is adapted into a American fantasy drama television series which hits the mark and makes/creates a crazy fan base? Well, the answer to that is ‘not so often’ but Game Of Thrones [TV adaptation of the book series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE] is one of the few exceptions.
But what lies behind the pages of this massively successful piece of work which lead to both- a successful book series (A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE) and a successful TV show (Game Of Thrones– which most people believe almost pooped its pants in the ending, but it was good.)
The book series, “A song Of Ice And Fire” originally has 7 books out of which only 5 are published yet by the author and 2 books are yet to come out! Isn’t it exciting?
Well, one of the reasons the ending of game of thrones was not loved by readers can be because, 2 books are yet to be published in the original book series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE whereas the TV show, Game Of Thrones, has already come to an end [May 2019].
call me dumb/unaware/whatever you want, but I thought “A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE” was a book in the “game of throne” book series.I apologize in public interest. Can we just laugh about it and move on?
DID YOU KNOW? A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE WAS FIRST MEANT TO BE A TRILOGY. BUT READERS CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF GOOD LITERATURE. CAN THEY?NO!
GAME OF THRONES [BOOK 1-A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE BOOK SERIES]
This is the first book of the ‘A song of Ice and Fire‘ series and was published on 1st August 1996.
Game Of Thrones, Book 1 of ‘A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE’ book series has three different stories from three different areas. Ned Stark, Daenerys and Jon Snow are the characters around which the whole story revolves.
The first story in the game of thrones is about a political drama that is happening in the Westeros of the 7 kingdoms where the Targaryen King was overthrown by Robert with the help of his friend, Eddard (Ned Stark) who is the head of the House Stark and lord of the winter fell.
Later on, when the king’s hand dies suspiciously, Ned is invited by the king and he becomes handman6 of the King Robert Baratheon. After this all the drama starts as he has to deal with court politics and all the different conspiracies against him due to the king’s throne and Eddard doesn’t know whom to trust in that situation.
The second story follows Daenerys, the exiled princess who is one of the last descendants of the royal family (Targaryen family). While she’s in exile with her brother (Targaryen prince) she gets married to Khal Drogo, who is a powerful leader of a barbarian tribe in exchange for the help of the dragon army who can help his brother to claim his throne back.
She also gets 3 dragon eggs as a wedding gift by a merchant. Later she has to deal with a whole lot of drama when her brother goes crazy and King Robert decides he needs to end her.
The third storyline in the game of thrones book follows Jon Snow, the illegitimate son ( bastard -as used in the book) of Ned Stark. He is loved by his father but his father’s wife isn’t really a big fan of him.
So after the Ned shifts to the royal land he realizes he can’t really stay in his house. So he moves out and joins a group which were appointed to protect the wall in the South part which was created to protect the 7 kingdoms from the outside magical creatures (you know how fantasy world can be).
There he has to deal with monsters. Like, real life monsters (what difference does it make though? We do that too in our daily lives don’t we? The only difference being, the monsters in our world look like humans) and not the conspiracy ones whom his father was facing but the actual zombies!
Game of thrones was on fire (quite literally).

CLASH OF KINGS [BOOK 2- A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE BOOK SERIES]
A clash of kings is the 2nd book in the series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE and was published 3 years after the 1st book- game of thrones, that is 16th November 1998.
As the name suggests, the book only has clashes between different kings or you can say people that are self pronounced “kings”. There’s a lot going on in the second book of A Song Of Ice And Fire book series.
We have Stannis, Joffrey, Rob, Renly and many more.
So in the ending of the game of thrones, first book Ned Stark dies sadly, but you need to go on and read the clash of kings to know the reason why. Robert, the king also died after getting attacked by a wild boar which may or may not be true. Now it’s all the fighting because of the iron throne (they don’t call it the game of thrones for no reason after all!)
After the death of the king, Joffrey, his son declared himself as the king. Now we have a character of Tywin Lannister who was related to the Targaryens’ sent his son, Tyrion Lannister, to the capital, King’s Landing, to take power from the Joffrey, and he built his army for that.
Meanwhile Robb Stark, Ned Stark’s son was declared the lord of the North after his father’s death. He now wants to avenge his father’s death so he also leads his armies to victory against Lannister forces.
We also have Renly and Stannis who were King Robert’s brothers – both declare themselves King in the South and raise armies from different sets of bannermen and subjects to fight each other as they want the throne too.
Jon Snow, he is still doing what he was doing in the first book, game of thrones and Queen Daenerys sole survivor of the overthrown House Targaryen follows her lonely destiny but now with 3 baby dragons.

A STORM OF SWORDS [BOOK 3- A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE BOOK SERIES]
A Storm Of Swords is the third book in ‘a song of ice and fire’ series after the game of thrones and clash of kings. which was published published in the year 2000 and is further divided into 2 parts as, it was the longest book of this series :-
1) STEEL AND SNOW
2) BLOOD AND GOLD
This part has a lot of things. A lot is going on. Well, the whole book and the whole book series of a song of ice and fire has a lot but this book is like the mixture of everything.
Wars, killings, training, skills, weddings, betrayals, more wars, more killings, Conflicts and EVERYTHING.
This part picks up from the ending of the previous book clash of kings, and is the continuation of the war of the 5 kings. But we can say that the war now is slowly drawn towards the conclusion (all good things must come to an end).
In the capital city of King’s Landing everyone is preparing for king Joffrey’s wedding with Marjorie (a new character) which sadly will never happen because… [SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!] Joffrey will be killed and then the blaming gaming will start and a whole lot of drama. (A new series of game of thrones)
In the North part, we have Jon Snow who is now beyond the wall experiencing the life of that World. He has joined the Wildlings and the king beyond the walls and now he’s in a very conflicted situation.
He can’t decide whether he wants to join the wildlings fully or to return to his brother at the nights watch.
Now we can’t forget about our lonely queen Daenerys which right now in this book is pretty occupied. She’s working on her skills and roaming from city to city in essos and freeying the slaves and building her own Army because she’s in the mood to get back to her throne.
GO GET’EM QUEEN!did she? Or did she not?
We even see Robb Starks and her mother dying but Arya Stark (Robb’s sister and Ned’s daughter) manages to stay alive by posing as an anonymous serving girl in the vast ruins of Harrenhal – until she manages to escape (killing a guard in the process) and heads North back to her home castle, Winterfell.
What now? What happens then? Guess we’ll know in the next books OR in the next blog post! So stay tuned FOR MORE SPOILER ALERTS AND GAME OF TRONES! 😉
