Post by Nikita Prajapati

Well, no need to say Rupi Kaur is a goddess in herself.

Why?

Because it’s almost impossible to explain yourself in a way that people not only understand but also put themselves in your shoes.

Rupi Kaur is an Indian-Canadian poetess, illustrator, performer and what not.

In total, she has written 3 books till now who are all poetry collections, out of which, one was published on exactly the day when Mr. Obama’s Memoir was.

(Milk and Honey has both- poetry and prose.)

It was her first book which also, she published herself (self published) in 2014.

It was back when she was a 21 year old university student.

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur is a wholesome and deep(very heart touching) poetry and prose collection. Kaur has divided it into 4 parts or chapters, namely:

  • The Hurting
  • The Loving
  • The Breaking
  • The Healing

And all of these are as deep as they sound.

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur sold more than 2.5 Million copies in the first year of publication.

Till now it has sold more than 3 million copies or by the time you’re reading this, who knows how much!

The mere numbers are telling alot about her beautiful and meaningful and soulful writing and the depth to which she connects and resonates with the readers.

Milk And Honey by Rupi Kaur is a 202 page prose and poetry book.

The book is written in English and Slovak language.

Trust me. Each page is worth your time and thought AND soul. (Oh dear lord… *Literally Cries*)

You surely would be wondering that.

PS: I knew it! And here’s I think why it is so:

Well, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur deals with very very sensitive topics like violence, abuse, love, loss and femininity.

These sensitive issues need a certain trauma (god forbid) or a certain level of maturity and understanding.

Hence, making milk and honey and adult book.

Well, these are surely the issues people need education about.

What’s in here?

Kaur, in an interview was asked about how her anger affects her writing. To which, she says:

…Anger is also scary. When I am writing on anger, it is difficult to come back sometimes. So I talk with myself. I reason that life, love and relationships are so multi-dimensional. For me to write honestly about each, I cannot pretend that it’s all fairytales and rainbows. …

Well for an artist, it is very important to maintain a good mental space.

Maintaining a good mental space doesn’t mean stopping to feel.

No!

The emotions have to be dealt very very carefully.

Sometimes, it even places a creative block which takes a while to come out from. Yeah. I feel you.

Watch Rupi Kaur being interviewed by this beautiful lady!

how some people are just so beautiful?

Both, inside and out.

Who knew EMMA WATSON is such a great interviewer!

Anyways. Have you read milk and honey? What are your thoughts on it? I need to know!
